Media/Visual Literacy Progress Report

March 3rd:

Yesterday was our set deadline to have individual research completed about our two infomercial products and post our findings to the wiki rough draft page. Ashley, Jessica, Richard and Rane completed this task on time, but Ben did not. The idea is to have everyone's research posted so we can begin to start a "rough draft" of our findings, as well as a peer review of what others have found. Hopefully, everyone will have their research completed and posted by the end of the week (Friday the 5th) and we can begin actually begin combining our findings in a collaborative manner. The rough draft is set to be completed by March 19th, and our final product is set for March 26th (this gives us a couple days to fix anything major if we need to before the actual due date on the 31st).

Questions:

- Is okay to present portions of our findings in bulleted form, or does it need to look like a formal paper would?

While I think some bullets can have a place, if you look at the examples posted to the class wiki, it should read more like a formal paper / traditional analysis.

- How do we upload a video onto our wiki?

You can either create a link to a YouTube video by using the "Link" button in the page editor or you can save the video to your computer after converting it through Zamzar and the upload it by using the "File" button in the page editor.

- Is there a way to keep the MLA citations formatted correctly (hanging indent, double spaced, etc) once on the wiki?

I struggle with this, too. Unfortunately, I think it is one of the limitations of the page editor in the free version. We can live with it! :-)

Looks like you all are making good progress and thinking critically about your work! As you continue to work on this project, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need any help. Keep up the GREAT work!
